I am not sure how much worldbuilding you want us to do in character creation, but I was getting the vibe of a smaller town starting point surrounded by... farmland and then wilderness as a point-of-light thing?
I'm thinking of a person trained as a smith or craftsman who has discovered an innate magical ability of some sort, but I don't have more fleshed out than that.
That sounds good to me, and as you asked on IRC, I think an early industrial revolution style world where technology and magic have mixed, but things are largely still getting figured out, sounds like a fun setting. Will definitely recommend leaning in on Eberron ideas if that is helpful inspiration as well. As for worldbuilding, two things: first, absolutely go nuts with whatever you want to establish within what we have so far (wrt magitech industrial revolution or the stuff I wrote up on my site (which I will update)). Second, I was thinking it might be helpful for me to start with a scene-setting in-game post that you guys can riff off of when working on characters, I just haven't written it yet. Maybe tomorrowish. But feel free to establish whatever you'd like if you're faster than me. Magitech might also expand the options of Foci, when you get there, so sounds good to me from that perspective as well. Oh, and yes, definitely points of light, that is my general preference as well. -- bss (Brian S. Stephan) | https://bss.zone/ | GPG: 0x80895FCB
