From what you observed, it's possible the assistant cannot hover more than a couple feet off the ground, making the chasm problematic.
Is the assistant of a size where I could grab it and attempt to teleport it with myself across the chasm?
[Checks and etc. here welcome as desired; I'd say you have a variety of options if you want some of the eggs for yourselves, and/or if you want to satisfy the assistant and try to get it or the egg to the other side.]
As you are determining what to do next here, you hear some indistinct commotion from the other side of the chasm, vaguely muffled in a sense that makes you think it might be coming from above ground.
Does this commotion sound like a party of people, some animals, or something else?
